G-20, LA CUMBRE DEL DIOS MAMÓN
PEPE LAGUNA, pepe.laguna@yahoo.es
PARLA (MADRID).

G-20, THE SUMMIT OF GOD Mamon
PEPE LAGUNA, pepe.laguna @ yahoo.es
PARLA (MADRID).

ECLESALIA, 30/10/08.- The Spanish president Rodriguez Zapatero walks these days pateándose half the world in search of support that guarantee their presence at the summit to meet on Nov. 15 in Washington to leaders of the 20 leading economies in the world (G-20). How will not be Spain, the eighth world power at that meeting! I miss least a similar diplomatic activity on the part of Benedict XVI, not because the pope is to claim the Vatican for a privileged position in the ranking of rich countries, but because someone should require the presence at the summit of the millions of impoverished are the numerical majority of the planet. A requirement that the Church could / should take as their own.
If the summit will decide the foundations of a new world economic order, this can not be done with his back to the suffering of three-quarters of the population. It is not true that the major problems of mankind are the indebtedness of Leaman Brother, the collapse of Wall Street or the descent of the IBEX. The real problems are killed in the bloodletting of the small boats in the Strait, the impending genocide in the Democratic Republic of Congo, or endemic famine in the African continent. While the information presented to us with mute euphemistic: "killed by hypothermia," "death by starvation," the reality that hits the stomach and is aware that in the twenty-first century, there are human beings, especially children, die hunger and cold. The problem of the world is not that the bank Santander Central Hispano won slightly less than the 10.000 billion euros projected for 2008, but the 13 million Africans threatened by famine, the 200 thousand street children in Brazil, 25 million IDP or the 10 million refugees due to armed conflict.
Since its compassionate closeness to the pain of the excluded, the Samaritan Church should shout their outrage at the summit of worshipers of the golden calf. Someone should remind the high priests of the market, which the radical otherness of reality are the poor of this world ahead of any other interest.
If the eradication of poverty is not the priority issue of the vaunted global summit, will attend a ceremony to worship the god Mamón that require the blood of innocent victims to further fuel the granaries of the rich Epulón. Hopefully the Church feels pressed by the suffering of so many men and women and require their presence at this summit prophetic. Benedict XVI should begin now to patearse the world.

Today I received a friend's very committed to Africa on the note that the Congo will discuss below. I have been troubled stomach, as we say in Austria. A mixture of embarrassment, anger and helplessness have taken hold of me. The MCS, who praised in the previous note, also have their weaknesses and censorship when it comes to sharing the causes of certain conflicts that may affect him financially, mainly via advertising multinaconales. Crisis? For the crisis in the Congo! A Spanish citizen loses both legs in the conflict of last Tuesday and anyone of the Spanish government has taken serious steps to find responsible? I've placed a couple of cartoons and draw on years ago that this conflict does not seem to stop. For more information visit the Web Umoya.

The architect of so much suffering is Laurent Nkunda, a Tutsi Congolese, leader of the guerrilla group that is ravaging this part of the DRC. Nkunda and his men are clearly supported by the government of Rwanda, which in turn serves the interests of big powers of the North (U.S., UK, Belgium, Netherlands).

But why do these big powers are interested in the east of the DRC? The answer is obvious: In this area there are significant mining coltan, cassiterite, diamonds, wolframite ..., minerals leaving the country in trucks and helicopters, via Rwanda, and end up in the hands of multinationals in the West.

In recent days the situation has worsened. Two Rwandan battalions had crossed into Congolese territory. On Monday, October 26, a large contingent of the Rwandan army attacked the base of Congolese Rumangabo left at the gates of Goma, capital of North-Kivu, it is feared a major offensive Rwandan war, with devastating consequences for the population. The preparation of this action was denounced Rwanda for the previous week at the UN by the Congolese president, Joseph Kabila, who also met with the Association of Southern Cone countries of Africa (SADC). They promised help in the event of an invasion of Rwanda.

What until recently was only a suspicion or appeared isolated events, has been taking shape thanks to the numerous allegations of civil society: MONUC (Mission of the United Nations Organization), with 17,000 peacekeepers in the region, not is fulfilling the objectives of his mission of peace and security to the population. Reliable sources on the ground to accuse these "peacekeeping forces" of Rwandan troops move into their helicopters, give them uniforms of MONUC, to allow the movement of Rwandan soldiers to the border and move them to places where the guerrillas of Nkunda, accusing them , To remain dormant when guerrilla attack, not to give their support to the government army when it most needs it ... Above all this is understandable that the population has been expressed in recent days against the forces of MONUC accused of supporting the enemy and asking to leave the DRC. The same Colette Braeckman, in an article published on Tuesday, 28, "he soir.be," writes: "What does this mission, which absorbs one billion dollars a year? Two extra battalions you improve things? Would not it have to be thinking, urgently, in a relay of MONUC for a European force to deter or at least a police force made up of neutral observers and credible ?..."

This situation has not been alien to the recent resignation of the head of MONUC, Gral. Vincent Diaz de Villegas and Herrerías, after barely two months in office. While the Gral. Villegas alleged personal motives seem increasingly plausible suspicion that this resignation relate to the inability or lack of political will of MONUC to fulfill its original mandate in the Kivu.

We should ask ourselves how it is possible that the United Nations Mission, we pay among all, is acting as directed by the chairman of the U.S. yet. Did not we will have to repent-too-late for having allowed this new war of aggression and plunder? However, the Western press is limited to reporting on the humanitarian crisis to silence the name and the reasons for the real perpetrators. Politicians and the UN expressed "great concern at the escalating violence in eastern DRC" and then look the other way ... surely toward the boards of the stock market or banks in trouble. What will happen to more than one million refugees already agolpan without the means to survive them seem "unfortunate" but still support or do not put obstacles to Rwanda in its quest to annex this area rich Congo.

What is happening to the International Community? How many more deaths will be required to act?

(Please circulate this message among your friends and acquaintances. We can not continue the plundering and killing Congolese people.)

Some keys to understanding what is happening
in R. D. of the Congo.
Those who follow certain international conflicts for years get some keys to understanding what happens in them that can not easily achieved. We need to work on assumptions that only confirms or denies the future. We know that the official statements usually are used to divert attention to what is happening in reality, and is part of the game to use the lie in certain cases (and in this as in all there are some who do more than others).
The Committees of Solidarity with Africa Negra follow closely the situation in the Congo since 1991. We have always had an interest in having direct contacts with religious and religious Spaniards and members of local organizations in defense of human rights that we counted what was happening in the country. Today we have a group of contacts for various parts of the Congo to inform us of events and between them have contacts in the Kivu they are experiencing what appears on our television screens.
During the years 1998-2003 the conflict situation in eastern Congo was much worse than now. In fact, fear of the population is the recurrence of such events in 5 years that killed some 4 million Congolese (the figure now being shuffled to 5 million dead from 1998 until the present day). What is surprising is that during those years when Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi invaded the Congo with figures that were moments of a million deaths per year, the war remained totally ignored by the media. ¿Accident or ignorance? The events experienced by the Congolese people are very similar to the atrocities of the Nazi concentration camps. No war with so much dead after World War II. Why was ignored by the major news agencies that in the end are the ones who dictate what international news is important and what not?
Now the question arises as to why the cameras are showing what is happening. These agencies now report by the masses of displaced persons fleeing from areas or cities taken by the army of warlord Laurent Nkunda. It seems that the Congolese army is incapable of halting the advance of Nkunda and therefore it is not surprising that among the leaders of international politics arises the idea that the solution to avoid bloodshed and a massive humanitarian situation is catastrophic increase number of peacekeepers on the ground, because you think that there is not enough. Some European leaders shuffled the possibility of sending a rapid intervention force of the EU to avoid catastrophe. Personally I think the intent of making news now is the humanitarian situation in eastern Congo is due to some ulterior motive that was not made public and that now that we are still trying to discover the conflict playing a guessing game. At this point it seems logical to think that these images of masses of people are showing to justify an increase in blue helmets or the intervention of the European rapid intervention force in which there may be a country that will lead to a clear (¿France, Belgium ?).
Join this point the statements of Javier Solana to 29-10-2008 in which praises the blue helmets (peacekeepers of the mission is called MONUC) for their exemplary behavior staying at the moment so risky in the field.
What is contradictory that even in these days the population of Goma and Bukavu, the capital of North Kivu and South Kivu, have left en masse demanding that disappear from Congolese soil all blue helmets. What is this?
Another element to consider: was appointed in September to Spanish Lt. Gen. Diaz de Villegas in command of MONUC and 27-10-2008, ie less than two months later and connected with everything that is happening, resigns from office . Alludes to personal reasons, but why do we really have resigned?
The information from our local contacts give clues to understand some aspects. We communicate that there are many testimonies of people who have seen blue helmets transferring arms to the troops of Nkunda-ie to those who are attacking the local population and the peacekeepers are among other things to protect civilians from torture, rape and murder of Nkunda's troops. Other testimonies are from people who have seen blue helmets smuggling gold and other minerals of high value. Loading of MONUC helicopters minerals, helicopters whose destination was the Rwanda border (and Rwanda is the one who has created and maintains a Nkunda). Other similar cases are related to sexual misconduct of peacekeepers to girls. Anyway, you could say that we say these are isolated examples of corruption of members of MONUC who do not have to call into question the behavior of it as such.
Most serious charges coming. The behavior of MONUC when there is fighting between the Congolese army and Nkunda's troops: if Nkunda's troops who are due to the fighting, MONUC then disappears, but when the Congolese army is in position to defeat appears MONUC and standing between the combatants holding back the advance and avoiding a possible final victory of the Congolese troops. Other times what the MONUC is to facilitate the advancement of the troops of Nkunda: MONUC occupies a buffer zone between the two sides, supposedly to stop the advance of Nkunda. Well, sometimes key has abandoned incidentally this buffer zone drawing Nkunda's troops the opportunity to make a breakthrough without difficulty of their positions and taking the Congolese army by surprise. It has also been seen on several occasions to Nkunda using MONUC helicopters in some of their movements.
But the situation that occurred just prior to the resignation of Lieutenant General Villegas could perhaps be the straw that filled his glass of it tolerable. That same morning the troops of Nkunda took by surprise the military base at Rumangabo where he was a good part of the Congolese army. It was by surprise because Nkunda's troops were dressed in costumes of MONUC and the Congolese people to see that MONUC was approaching was strange, but did not react. The troops of Nkunda, when they were sufficiently close, then opened fire on the Congolese to kill enough and generally causing a stampede. The point is that as early as June 2004, Nkunda took Bukavu using the same strategy: to their soldiers wearing blue helmets and transporting them in vehicles from MONUC. If it had been a theft of uniforms, it is logical that the commanders of MONUC had alerted the Congolese army that Nkunda's troops were disguised as blue helmets, but neither in 2004 nor did it now.
A month ago, members of the Congolese army intercepted a communication from a member of MONUC who was calling urgently for a command of the Rwandan army and requested him to come from Rwanda reinforcements swiftly in support of Nkunda because the Congolese army was in a position superiority with regard to Nkunda. In addition to such occasions, that it has been more than one-MONUC withdrew from one of the more or less at the border that is out there and move Rwandan troops to join the ranks of Nkunda.
No wonder that if these allegations are true that make us the Congolese who are on the ground, Lieutenant General Villegas chooses to resign if he sees that it is impossible to bring some sanity to this situation and be in command of his troops . The Blue Helmets are creating a situation in which life could lose hundreds or thousands of innocent civilians.
It is no wonder that neither the Congolese conclude that the role of MONUC is to prevent the Congolese army can not defeat Nkunda and it is the latter in any case that the breakthrough in their positions. But what is this mess? Is playing with the lives of thousands of people as if it were not for nothing.
To further understand the conflict need to know that Congo is one of the richest countries in the world in natural resources, especially mining. Gold, diamonds, copper, cobalt, uranium, tin and a long list of minerals that he owns in colossal amounts, being in its soil the largest reserves of the planet in some of them. Is particularly rich in rare and strategic minerals: the best known case is that of coltan, which is so necessary for the manufacture of mobile phones, laptops or spacecraft. Tantalum has coltan, which has some special features, but very little on the planet and all indications are that the largest reserves of the planet are exactly in the Congo in the conflict zone. If you leave out coltan in eastern Congo is the collapse of manufacturing mobile phones. There could be an international economic collapse, and more in these times of crisis. The effect that might have on the majors of the communications sector could be catastrophic for a stop in the production chain as they are today things can quickly produce a catastrophe.
The danger of the Congo for the global economy is that China is potentially the African, and has the largest reserves of the planet of some strategic minerals, and in the case of coltan is suspected that it might be almost a monopoly. And you can trust these economic issues of this magnitude, which can be as large impact on the economy in the hands of any Western leader?
Things are that the coltan and other important minerals are leaving the Congo by Rwanda (and also gold for Uganda) since 1998. And for multinationals as things stand, the case works. Is best not to touch it. The problem is that all the benefits of such huge quantities of minerals are enriching the clan of Paul Kagame that Rwanda has the power, which is maintained by Rwandan militias of various types (some of Interahamwe Hutu-yes, yes, is funding the Interahamwe militias and other Tutsis as those of Nkunda).
So the claims by the Congolese Government to change the rules of the game, arguing that it is time to end that the only "benefit" that gets the Congolese people of their wealth is to have their children and youth to work as slaves in mines The killing of civilians, torture them, the systematic rape of women ... by the same militias that are taking minerals. That is to say that he wants the benefits of the mines are for the Congolese and Rwandan not for the clan, and this has the clear opposition of the traffickers who are now controlling the global market for coltan and who also are in alliance with the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame.
Thus, adversely affecting the interests of the clan of traffickers and Kagame poses a risk too high (could collapse the international market for coltan) for large telecommunications companies linked to (not only mobile phone manufacturers but also for businesses linked to the telephone). And what Western ruler was ready to support action against Kagame and traffickers and take the risk that this would mean for the economy?
An additional problem is that Kagame and his Rwandan clan power-play very hard. Its troops are characterized by particularly bloody and cruel actions with the civilian population. And knowing his position requires the international community that all their crimes are silenced. He and the RPF (Rwandan Patriotic Front) have made real butchers in the Rwandan and Congolese soil. Killed hundreds of thousands of Rwandans, mostly Hutus and Congolese. And yet made strenuous efforts to bring to Rwanda as an example of development in Africa. Internationally cares much that his image is kept neat. This could explain how their troops have invaded the Congo for several years and caused millions of Congolese dead and the issue has not become news in the international press.
Another aspect to consider is that China has been left out of this game. China needs to devour huge quantities of raw materials to keep your train of production, and the Congo offers huge quantities of these raw materials prices very interesting. The Congolese government is in a situation of extreme weakness: You do not have money, and the international community does not want to give him because he wants to keep it low so you do not try to change the rules of the game; your budget allows little or no pay to soldiers are in front, or sometimes, supply of ammunition. Is ready to offer what China needs if it helps. And here the problems begin.
Already signed the Congo and China for many months, a concession contract for copper for China. In return China would build two airports, hospitals, schools, highways ... A line of several billion dollars rather barter. Let us note that because of the economic weakness of the Congolese government, it is not capable of defending its territory or its properties, and currently the European and American multinationals are paying the Congo between 5% and 12% of those who declare wealth that out of the country (which is in addition to what they place in secret because the Government has no ability to control). The Chinese offer 30% of what we draw and this has caused dread.
During recent months the Congolese government has suffered heavy Western pressure trying to force him to rescind the contracts they already have signed with China, and in August said quite forcefully that the contracts signed with China were to meet. And in the last days of August the militia of Laurent Nkunda launched the offensive with strong support from Rwanda to the conquest of the Kivus. And MONUC is to monitor the interests of "international community" (or rather, in this case of USA, UK, Belgium, Holland and others) and ultimately obeys the orders of Alan Doss, Special Representative of the Secretary UN General for the Democratic Republic of Congo, and British and chief of MONUC. So MONUC is not to protect civilians, is the clearest recognition of the Congolese, but to protect the rules of the game, and if at any time the President of Rwanda demands that MONUC go to another area because they want some of its troops were put in Congo, MONUC obeys the orders and goes.
The situation offers some more nuanced, but that might not be important to explain at this precise moment in order not to make the analysis more complex than it already is exposed. There are other important keys to ignore us. It is, however, add one final point. Perhaps the most dangerous thing they are what we value the lives of people and no control over raw materials, is that the "international community" to do what he is doing in supporting Kagame. Kagame is also characterized by their ambition. It seems that there is a plan of a Tutsi clan, in which he is one of the main protagonists, which is intended primarily from the Congolese territory. Rwanda would keep the Kivus, which is among other mineral coltan. But it seems that the ambition does not end there: the aim is to expand its area of control Tutsi northward in the direction of Kenya and south. And if the "international community" gives the Kivus possessing a wealth abysmal who oppose his plan then? How many more millions of dead will be in the silence in this region of Africa while we talk with our mobile phones? It is the mind-between Rwanda and Congo, possibly between 7 and 9 million. Or decide to stop your feet Kagame because that seems to go too far?

It is beyond doubt the importance of viewing developments in this globalized society in which we find ourselves (and we disencounter). And who can deny the importance of mass media at this point. It is appreciated that there are people who play life behind the camera and in front of the danger to our heart is steep for those realities. Later depend on us to act or not.

If we could freeze time, but we do not know what is really the time, capture the present moment, keeping a second of eternity ... we would be, but not what we were time-lords of this, of eternity. But what our paradox: we can not see ourselves, we can not hear us ourselves, we can not embrace ourselves, and when we finished printing the picture just because we are different to make that image that appears on it.

CUESTIONES EXISTENCIALES

These are two of the three classic questions about the meaning of life (the third is "Who am I?", Which will touch on another occasion), and referring to our being intrahistórico (within a historic horizon), is namely, space-time. (Many have the answer: "I come from a shopping center and I'm going back to him"). But seriously, what "horny" of life, to say the least, is that it sometimes seems as if the same point where I'm going and where I come from ( "from dust we come and to dust we will become," reads the liturgy Catholic Ash Wednesday), having a sense of finitude but without giving the limits be on top of a "spherical existence." You and I, being oriented to get to "infinity and beyond", condemned to roam the surface finite existence of our ancestors and those that happen to us (or vice versa), of transcendence excited simply because they do not ever reach that horizon toward which we are going. (As A. Einstein said in his General Theory of Relativity: space-time is curved).

¿CAMBIO CLIMÁTICO? MMM... NO SÉ, NO SÉ

José María Aznar, former president of the Spanish Government, doubts about the veracity of climate change, but without showing scientific arguments to support its position. However, savagely attacked those who defend him with scientific data, and especially defend take steps to alleviate the most of their effects, which suffer especially the poorest. In a display of cynicism that this money could be spent on poor countries, and I say cynical because what he did to be president of government was quite the opposite: supporting an illegal war, the Iraq looking for weapons of mass destruction (of This does not doubted), to destroy a country and steal its oil (see cartoons). I do not know why, but even after being shaved the mustache and is no longer grow hair continues to remind me to a certain character of the last century who also liked to play with the world ...

Immigration and "fear" ambient
Sometimes we dare, from our comfortable position, to try to limit situations like other people may be forced emigration, and we can get to use arguments such as peregrine respect for the environment, when what we really moves us -or paralyzes- es Fear ambient.

At the end of the hose we each of us. Daily acts that have global implications, for good and, unfortunately, for worse. Responsible consumption, ecological and solidarity, not just a "new financial architecture" is what is needed for the world to overcome the current economic crisis and, more importantly, humanitarian crisis.

"Sometimes we give him too many laps to things."
The worst thing when we turned too many things is growing more and lían mareados we can conclude, without knowing with certainty whether things are or we who walk around with it. Stop for a moment, to remain static, how do revolves around us, being mere observers, we can put in a different situation where a new point of view, a new horizon, appearing before us, and then see the solution.

THE LAST LAUGH - CRISIS SUBPRIME

So far I have not been very prone, to say nothing prone to putting humorous material that was not of their own creation, but I've seen this video and I thought it very appropriate place. It is simply great. At last I understood why we are as we are, why we have come to where we are and why we will continue to take their "hair" as they have done so far (these people "sharp and sophisticated" in financial markets).

Now we are asked to trust, faith in the market. As if it were of the same God. With a little faith the new messiah will save us all (yes all? To the four billion poor, too?). So that no panic in the most absolute solitude (I mean in bank deposits) have to believe that he is the only one who can bring the parousia Mamón secular god, god of money. The bad or the good, is that it seems that even their own priests and acolytes have become suddenly incredulous and even the great temple of Wall Street, with its "wall" (Wall, in English) included, is collapsing before the horrified by the faithful. Will we have begun to realize that this religion demanded too many human sacrifices -60,000 daily lives and environmental destruction? The qu etenga eyes to see you see ... and learn.

He then put a letter from my friend Chema Medina, president of the Coordinating Committee on Nongovernmental Organizations for Development of the Spanish state during the campaign "A PROMISE NOT FEED. POVERTY ZERO." It is worth stopping to read it and ask ourselves what we can do each of us, for us, as soon as possible to eradicate this holocaust diary.

At the end of the 60s, the World Bank commissioned a report which was published in 1969 under the title "The development, joint venture, whose address was given by an economist, Nobel laureate and former Canadian Prime Minister Lester Pearson, to his view the goal of development cooperation should be "to reduce disparities, remove injustices and to help poorer countries to come on their own path in the industrial and technological era, so that the world is not divided so increasingly blunt in rich and poor, privileged and underprivileged. "To this raised a new strategy of development aid was summarized in 10 points, one of which was the increase in Official Development Assistance (ODA) to reach 0 '7% Of the GDP of donor countries. This commitment was made within the UN at the beginning of the 70s. After nearly 40 years, only 5 countries had reached such a commitment of 0.7%. The reality is that in recent years, ODA from donor countries as a whole has declined.
The governments of rich countries have made since then many promises to combat poverty, but almost everything has been achieved in partial if not total failures, mainly because of the lack of political will to take the necessary measures and allocate sufficient resources.
On September 8 2000, 189 heads of State and Government, meeting at a summit convened by UN, signed the Millennium Declaration. In it, among other things, they pledged to work in the following 15 years on a series of targets for reducing poverty. They are the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), reflecting a synthesis and relaunch some of the major international commitments to poverty reduction achieved in previous decades.
These objectives can only be interpreted as a minimum commitments: it is the least that the international community should ensure by 2015 in the common effort to combat poverty. However, as has been seen at the UN summit held last month to keep track of these MDGs, such minima are not going to achieve.
In these years things have been promised more, with the developed countries did in 2002 at the Monterrey Summit a few promises of increased development aid, but have not been met. The G-8, the richest and most powerful countries on earth, meeting in Gleneagles three years ago, made a series of promises, especially oriented to Africa, but everything has not been met either half.
The promises important, the worth of truth, are not being made but those are met. The promises do not eat, but in 1996 the FAO member countries pledged to halve the number of hungry people, the reality is that this figure has been increasing year by year, and only in the latter year has increased by about 75 million people, already approaching a billion in the situation of hunger. The promises do not give them to eat.
Needless to pressure the major political and economic decision-makers worldwide to fulfill what they have promised repeatedly. It requires that each one of those people who has their hands in decisions affecting the life or death for millions of human beings to know that our society does not want any more promises, but realities, accomplishments, results. And for that you need you, and you, and he, and I ... we need all those people that we do not like the broken promises, which hurt us hunger and poverty of every human being.
Between 13 and Oct. 17 celebrating the week of mobilization against poverty, and we hold around the world. Multitude of NGOs, social movements, solidarity of people in many places in many countries from all continents will be heard this voice that cries out for fulfillment of promises. Also at many places in the Spanish geography, there are people who committed a multitude of activities being organized to raise awareness and mobilization to make this message resonate: the promises must be fulfilled. Especially we want on the 17th is a day that has a great echo in this claim, and for that we need to all men and women susceptible to this cause to unite our voice with forcefulness and do get this message to world leaders.
On Oct. 17 did not you stay at home; salt into the street and demands the fulfillment of promises. ANTONIO GAMONEDA, POETA

Me parece… bueno…no me desagrada.

Antonio Gamoneda, poet
"I am a provincial vocational"
"The real poetry is always subversive"
His work has been recognized belated but richly. 2006 was, in this sense, his magical years, since he was awarded the Queen Sofia Prize for Latin American Poetry and Cervantes. Antonio Gamoneda, which are sometimes defined as a visionary materialist, is in fact a mystical art that addresses the reality from a antirrealismo as convinced as, paradoxically, committed to their time. ¿Hard to understand? Read their poems and I will understand. Simple man of simple appearance, talk and apparently dragged hesitant, your entire being becomes almost-dare I say it was transfigured, when the topic touches of poetry. It may be difficult to seize him toward the humorous side of life, but it is very easy to learn from his work and life of their presence.
-Born in Oviedo, has lived almost his entire life in Leon and has never wanted to live elsewhere ¿It took you to the city or town who was adopted?
Well, as fate seems to be something that does not work very well, you live where you carry the circumstances. In my case, illness widowhood and my mother took me as a child to Leon. On the other hand, soon learned that was not made to live in a big city, and although some have given me a couple of serious hitches to come to Madrid, I ended up becoming a provincial vocation.
-He learned to read, according to his biographers, with a single book is not it was made heavier?
No, not at all. Schools were closed, it was 1936 - and in my house was the only book he had. It was the fact that it was a book of poetry written by my father. So I learned the signs of writing and, simultaneously, I said, to the point where he can express a child of five years, the special force that has the beauty and poetic language.
You are essentially self-taught, that, to avoid errors when writing?
I do not believe in the self-taught. While not having teachers and professors, all you need to learn is in the books. The not knowing is inherent, it is assumed, always.
-Let's talk about music. A group of 80, from the time of the move, saying they were bad times for poetry. And they now, how would you feel to the lyrics?
That group said that the eighties were bad times for poetry for the same reason that what remains now: because the lyric is a minority. But I do not agree. The fact that it is a minority means that it is not a product market. By failing to do so and not be related to economic interests, not due to market forces, as they should do, for example, novelists and painters. It is possible that poetry is the only creative activity which, if accompanied by the will, as genuinely free.
Sabina, said that "singing is shooting against forgetting." What about writing?
Sabina-I also has called the Judas Gamoneda. That is for him to sing. Anyway ... Writing poetry is not a cosmetic exercise. Or, if so, what is in second place. First of all, is an emanation existential. Something that has to do with life.
-Changing the subject: politics. They say it is the poet header Zapatero. How do you take? Is it a Baldone, a eulogy, a responsibility not know-no answer?
No. I take them in any way. It seems to me ... well ... I do not dislike. Nor desagradaría me that the mayor of a town or a waiter ... It has perhaps some significance, but that's not my growing importance, nor the quality of my work.
-Finally, we come, finally, to poetry. To begin with, a clarification: poetry, is who makes it or who needs it?
The poetry-originates in subjectivity, and therefore is a product of individual solitude. But when it projected, as is the heritage of all who read. Actually, reading a book is equivalent to recreate it. Poetry has two stages: first, belongs to the poet's interiority. Then, it becomes a good or a bad-to-reach group.
- What is poetry, as we enter the field?
It is thought-generated impulses nature of musical rhythm. The real poet feels that it appears the poem, words that come to him who, without knowing very well as, point to a sense that even he does not know. Valery said that "the first verse give us the gods." Clearly, there is a way of talking, but holds a truth. It is not literature. Or, if so, what is secondary. For me, above all, is a manifestation of my desires, my suffering, my joys, my perspective, my attitude to power. That is very closely linked to me. Something that shows me a part of me that I am aware only when I see my own words
- Is poetry a form of rebellion?
Well, my writing has a libertarian impulse. I think that all true poetry is subversive and differed because it departs from the conventional language and settled, which is the language of power. Does not communicate objective facts, nor describe, but shocked our consciences.
-The titles of his books speak of poisons, lies, snow, tombstones. Are you a sad man?
Well, I do not think much about castanets, but ... I believe that I am a man with a thought that wants to be realistic, but my writing is not realistic. The reality, for an agnostic like me who thinks it is the absence of the absence, does not have a lot of reasons, how to say? ... celebration.

But it appears that the "logic of markets," with its "invisible hand", which in good times grab the briefcase with the millions to accumulate them in their havens and, in bad times, open to receive public money; their logic, I mean, does not seem logical to walk by our house, that somehow this is the economy (oikos nomos, the law of the house, the management of the house).
